Sustainability & Community Impact
For Balispiritualretreat Guide, sustainability is not a corporate initiative; it is a direct expression of Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese philosophy of harmony that guides our every action. We believe that true spiritual wellness is inseparable from the well-being of the environment and the local community. As a responsible entity under Juara Holding Group, we are deeply committed to a model of tourism that preserves, protects, and empowers.
Our Environmental Commitments
We are dedicated to minimizing our ecological footprint and actively contributing to the conservation of Bali’s precious natural resources.
- Carbon Offsetting Program: We calculate the carbon footprint of every client’s journey, including flights and ground transportation. We then make a corresponding contribution to the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) and their reforestation programs in Kalimantan, helping to offset the environmental impact of travel.
- Zero Single-Use Plastics Policy: All our partner vehicles are stocked with reusable glass water bottles. We work exclusively with hotels and villas that have robust and verifiable policies to eliminate single-use plastics from their operations.
- Marine Conservation Support: For every coastal or marine-based experience we curate, we donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur, supporting their vital work in protecting Indonesia’s marine biodiversity.
- Water Conservation: We prioritize partnerships with resorts that have implemented advanced water recycling and conservation systems, a critical issue for the island of Bali.
Our Community Commitments
Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of tourism are shared directly with the local Balinese people, fostering economic prosperity and cultural preservation.
- Local Employment & Fair Wages: Over 90% of our on-the-ground guides, drivers, and operational staff are from local Balinese communities. We are committed to paying fair, living wages that exceed industry standards, and ensuring all staff are covered by BPJS insurance.
- Supporting Local Artisans & Enterprises: We actively integrate local, family-owned businesses into our itineraries. This includes sourcing offerings for temple ceremonies from local village markets, arranging private workshops with master artisans in villages like Tenganan (for Geringsing weaving), and prioritizing restaurants that practice a farm-to-table ethos with ingredients from local growers.
- The Juara Community Fund: A portion of the revenue from every Bali spiritual retreat booked is allocated to the Juara Community Fund. This fund provides educational scholarships and supports local health initiatives in the rural villages where some of our partner retreats are located, such as the Sidemen Valley.
Cultural Preservation
We see ourselves as custodians, not consumers, of Balinese culture. We work closely with our cultural advisors and village leaders (Bendesa Adat) to ensure our programs are respectful, non-intrusive, and contribute positively to the preservation of sacred traditions. We educate our clients on proper temple etiquette and facilitate interactions that are based on mutual respect and genuine curiosity. This commitment to responsible tourism is fundamental to who we are.
